Threshold is an exploration of liminal spaces shaped by personal memory, everyday observation, and lived experience. The series brings together environments from my hometown Klaipėda, fragments of Vilnius where I live and work, spaces surrounding my studio, and impressions from travels.
The paintings focus on transitional environments — corridors, staircases, underground passages, waiting rooms, tunnels, and recreational spaces. These are places designed for movement rather than permanence: spaces people pass through, often without noticing them. Yet despite their ordinariness, they can feel psychologically charged, simultaneously familiar and strangely alien.
Through emptiness, artificial light, silence, and suspended time, the works explore feelings of uncertainty, isolation and quiet anxiety. In Threshold, liminal spaces become more than architectural motifs — they reflect emotional and psychological states, revealing the uneasy but strangely attractive atmosphere of spaces that seem to belong to no one.
